Payday 2: The Four Best Heists, Ranked

There are a ton of exciting and nail-biting heists in the grim and gritty Payday 2, but these four heists stand head and shoulders above the rest.

Let's face it: the life of crime can sound appealing sometimes. Traveling the world and robbing some of the biggest institutions on the planet sounds more exciting than working 9 to 5. While the life of a notorious robber is out of the question for most people, Payday 2 allows us normies to live the criminal lifestyle without the whole getting shot thing.

Payday 2 follows the infamous Payday gang as they perform some daring heists and burglaries, making millions in the process. With over 75 heists to choose from, how do you know which ones to choose from? Thankfully we've put together a list of some of the best heists in the entire game.

Bank Heist: Gold

Sometimes the best things in life are also the simplest. A perfect example of this is the Bank Heist: Gold mission in Payday 2. It may be one of the most basic heists in the game, but its simplistic nature makes it one of the easiest missions to revisit. Players can choose to sneak their way into the bank vault or go in guns blazing. The bank layout constantly changes, keeping the mission fresh nearly every playthrough. It is a great heist for new players to get acquainted with the game while raking in a decent amount of cash. It may not be the most intricate heist in Payday 2, but its straightforward design makes it one of the best in the game.

Slaughterhouse

Although Slaughterhouse originally debuted in the Payday: The Heist, it still manages to be a cut above the competition. The enhanced Payday 2 version takes the heist to the next level, surpassing the original in nearly every way. Players must bulldoze an armored convoy through a slaughterhouse roof (the bulldozer rams the convoy off a bridge) to steal the gold within the vehicle. Once the golden is seized, the crew must escape through a shipping yard while taking on hordes of mercenaries and police officers.

The new and improved Payday 2 version of Slaughterhouse adds many new elements to the heists, including conveyor belts to help move the gold and a key card to close the shutter entrances, as well as extending the escape section of the heist. Slaughterhouse's phenomenal design and stellar pacing gives players a top-notch heisting experience.

Firestarter

A favorite among long-time Payday 2 players, Firestarter is a long-form heist that spans three in-game days. Each day is vastly different from one another and mixes up fast-paced action with stealth gameplay. The first day requires the Payday gang to steal or destroy an arsenal of weapons from a rival drug cartel. Players can choose to face the gang head-on or stealthily infiltrate their warehouse by blending in with the shadows.

The second day follows the heist crew as they steal a server from an FBI office. It can be completed loudly, but stealth is the preferred option. Firestarter wraps up with a basic bank heist where the gang must make their way inside the vault to burn the cartel's dirty money. The heist gives players a ton of freedom and mixes up loud and silent missions perfectly. It also has a hefty cash and experience payout, making it a great heist for lower level players.

Hoxton Breakout

Deciding between Hoxton Breakout and Hoxton Revenge is a difficult task. Both heists are extremely rewarding and a blast to play through with a group of friends. However, Hoxton Breakout's elaborate layout and frantic playstyle give it a slight edge over Hoxton Revenge. It is another long-form heist that is broken into two days. The first day has players rescuing Hoxton from prison and protecting him as the gang makes their way through the city streets. Hoxton rides in a heavily armored vehicle that the crew must protect as they make their grand escape.

The second day consists of the gang breaking into an FBI office to steal evidence against Hoxton. The evidence also gives the Payday crew valuable information on who set Hoxton up, allowing him to track the rat down and take his revenge. The heist gives players a ridiculous amount of cash and XP, making it the perfect mission to play through when you are low on funds or in desperate need of experience. It can be a bit long, but it is well worth it for the exceptionally high payout.

Even though Payday 2 is seven years old, it's still one of the best first-person shooters available on Steam. Almost all the heists are top not and give players exceptional multiplayer experiences. Out of all the amazing missions available, these are the ones that we found the most enjoyable. Just note that the list is completely subjective. Just because a heist is missing from the list doesn't mean it's bad. Payday 2 is full of entertain heist that appeals to every playstyle. Putting every great mission on this list would be a bit impractical. Make sure to tell us your favorite Payday 2 heists in the comments below.
